Detailed syllabus

Working in the Private Security Industry

Working as a Door Supervisor

Behavioural standards, civil & criminal law, searching, arrest procedures, drug awareness, recording incidents, queue management, licensing law and the Equality Act.

Conflict Management

Avoiding, defusing and resolving conflict — including post-incident support, dynamic risk assessment and verbal de-escalation techniques used on real doors every weekend.

Physical Intervention Skills

Practical, low-impact disengagement and holding skills designed to keep you, your colleagues and members of the public safe. Delivered by qualified PI instructors.

Emergency First Aid at Work

One full day of HSE-recognised first aid — primary survey, CPR, AED use, choking, bleeding control, shock and recovery position. Required by the SIA from October 2021.

Assessment

Each unit is assessed via short multiple-choice exams (Units 1–3) plus a practical assessment for Physical Intervention (Unit 4) and First Aid. All assessments are delivered on-site at the end of each unit — no need to travel anywhere else.

Resits: Unlimited free resits on all units, valid for 12 months from your original course start date. Resits are scheduled into upcoming course dates — no admin fees, no surprises.
