Which SIA Course Is Right for You?

Choosing your first SIA course can be confusing. Answer a few simple questions about the type of work you prefer and we'll show you the training pathways that may suit you.

This tool provides general guidance only. Your final choice should be based on the work you want to do and the current SIA licensing requirements.

Question 1 of 5

Would you like to work in public-facing security roles?

About the SIA career pathways

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) licenses several front-line security roles in the UK. Your first course determines which type of work you can lawfully carry out — so it pays to choose a pathway that matches the environments you actually want to work in.

The three most-requested entry qualifications we deliver are the SIA Door Supervisor Course, the SIA CCTV Operator Course, and the SIA Security Guard Course. A Door Supervisor licence is the most flexible — it lets you work licensed premises as well as most Security Guard roles. A Security Guard licence is more specialised for static/retail environments. A CCTV licence is for public-space surveillance from a control room.

If your answers point clearly to one course, follow the recommendation. If they don't, use our course comparison to weigh up the options side-by-side.
