About this course
The SIA Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Operator qualification allows you to work in any monitored CCTV environment in the UK — from local authority control rooms and shopping centres to transport hubs, corporate buildings and casinos. Our SIA-approved CCTV course covers the regulatory framework (Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, Protection of Freedoms Act, RIPA), practical use of CCTV equipment and incident recording. Delivered over three to four days at our East London venues, with weekly start dates and on-site assessment.

Detailed syllabus
Working in the Private Security Industry
Same Unit 1 as the Door Supervisor course — security industry overview, law, health & safety, communication and emergencies.
Working as a CCTV Operator
Codes of practice, Data Protection Act 2018 / UK GDPR, Protection of Freedoms Act, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, evidence handling, incident reporting and control room procedures.
Practical Use of CCTV Equipment
Hands-on practical training on PTZ camera control, target tracking, image quality, recording, retrieving footage and producing evidence-grade incident logs.
Assessment
Two short multiple-choice exams plus a practical CCTV assessment. All assessments take place in our on-site CCTV training room.
Resits: One free resit per unit included. Additional resits are available at a reduced rate if needed.

- Aged 18 or over on the first day of the course
- Valid photo ID — passport, UK driving licence or biometric residence permit
- Basic English language ability (around Level 1 / B1)
