SIA Door Supervisor Licence Renewal — Everything You Need to Know
How to renew your SIA Door Supervisor licence in London — Refresher course, Top-Up training, costs, timing and avoiding gaps.
When should I renew?
You can apply to renew your SIA Door Supervisor licence up to 4 months before it expires. Don't leave it any later — once your licence expires, you can't legally work front-line roles until your renewal comes through, which can take weeks.
Set a reminder when your licence card arrives. Most door supervisors aim to start their Refresher course at least 3 months before expiry.
What training do I need?
Since 2021 the SIA has required all Door Supervisor licence holders to complete the official Top-Up / Refresher training before renewing. This is a 2-day course covering updated terror threat awareness (ACT), legislation updates and refreshed Physical Intervention.
We run the SIA Door Supervisor Refresher every week across our East London venues at £200 all-inclusive.
What if my licence has already expired?
If your licence expired up to 3 years ago, you can still renew using the standard Refresher route. If it expired more than 3 years ago, you'll need to retake the full 6-day SIA Door Supervisor course.
Either way — don't panic. We can talk through your situation and book you onto the right course the same week.
